The Indian Political System

The political system of India works within the framework of the country’s own Constitution. India is a parliamentary democratic secular republic in which the president of India is the head of state, and the prime minister of India is the head of the government. India has compared to other democracies, a large number of political parties during its history under democratic governance. The Constitution of India lays down that the Head of State is the President of India. In this case, the President is the head of state, and is elected for a five-year long period. The parliament of India is the legislative body of the Indian Republic and consists of two houses. The President of India is a component of the Indian Parliament.
